Larry Hersberger
Larry Hersberger is the co-founder of Masterpiece Artwork and an internationally acclaimed contemporary artist whose work has been experienced by audiences in more than 50 countries — through private collections, public installations, exhibitions, international publications, and licensed products distributed across global markets. Over the course of his career, he has lectured in five countries and created for clients on six continents.
Born in the wide-open prairies of Saskatchewan, Canada, Hersberger developed an early fascination with imagination, storytelling, and the transformative qualities of light. Surrounded by vast landscapes and expansive skies, he discovered that art could become a language capable of expressing wonder, mystery, and the deeper narratives of human experience. That conviction has shaped everything he has made since.
For more than three decades, his work has been defined by a theatrical, narrative-driven approach that merges symbolism, luminous color, and deliberate artistic construction. The result is imagery that does not simply decorate a space — it commands it. Viewers pause. They search. They are drawn into a visual world that rewards sustained engagement and connects to their own life experiences across repeated encounters.
"My goal is to create artwork that begs your gaze. If done well, it will make you search, study, and take it in. I want the viewer to feel and live the artwork. My work takes me to a place of creation, not duplication. I love that edge — it is the unknown, and where new things are waiting to be discovered."
At Masterpiece Artwork, Larry brings that same standard to Private Commissioned Portraiture — a practice he defines as a return to the discipline's original purpose.
Civilization has always recorded its identity through portraiture. Not to decorate walls. Not to capture a passing mood. To preserve what matters. Somewhere between the Old Masters and the modern lens, that thread was lost — traded for convenience, speed, and surface memory. The market calls it photography. Larry calls it duplication.
His commissions begin before a camera is touched. Through Art Discovery, he maps the family's identity — their core values, defining moments, and generational purpose — and translates that into visual language. The Hersberger Method™ governs every finished piece: a structured process that moves from identity to symbolic narrative to archival permanence. He does not pose. He interprets. He does not duplicate. He evolves.
A limited number of commissions are accepted each year to ensure each work receives the time, attention, and creative focus it deserves.

Larry is the father of three daughters — Layla, Juliette, and Anna Rose — who are, in his own words, his world. When Anna Rose was born with Down syndrome, Larry and Ela founded Don't Fear Me Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to Down syndrome awareness. It is the same conviction that runs through all of his work: that every life carries dignity, that every story deserves to be seen, and that love — made visible — changes everything.
